I don’t know about you, but after the holiday bustle I often feel pulled to take a break, a timeout, a mini stay-cation to digest the events and lessons of the past year, before blossoming forth into the new. And New Year’s serves to bookmark this season of introspection quite brilliantly—as we embark on new beginnings, fresh starts and a chance to do things differently.
All that said, I’ve always had a love-hate with resolutions.
(Can you relate?)
I’m not sure exactly what happens; all I know is that somewhere between December 31st and January 15th my super-duper awesome resolution would turn … gross. And this would happen year after year—that is, until last year.
Cue: solution. I’d love to share with you this golden nugget from business guru Marie Forleo, which I’ve adopted as my go-to guilt-free tool for conquering each new year with ease and grace.
Hope this finds you warm and cozy during the holiday season. Our latest newsletter greeting proved fruitful–and poignant– for a blog post. Enjoy. xo

Review Your Year in 3 Simple Steps
“Before you make your New Year’s resolutions,
ask yourself these 3 simple questions:
What’s one thing you did that you’re proud of?
What’s one mistake you made and the lesson you learned?
What’s one limiting story you’re ready to let go of before the New Year?”

Jill’s answers to Marie Forleo’s Super Awesome Year-End Exercise
- Too many to list! Started Soul Voice Studio, launched Women in Harmony,re-mastered 5-song EP and recorded 11 new demos for next album. #gratitude
- Played small, even though stepped up bigger than last year. Lesson: Nobody gains from you dimming your light; it’s always time to shine.
- Judgment—period. (More specifically, the “who am I to (insert blank here)?” story).Soooo ready to let it go. xo
My takeaway for 2019—sing more, play even bigger, without judgment.
(Now I’m ready to finesse my True North with milestones & action steps, or a theme for the New Year—ease, grace, courage … you name it!)
