Addressed inefficiencies in the existing correspondence model, including duplication, fragmented ownership, and inconsistent routing, which limited capacity for strategic communications work. Select responsibilities were transitioned from Communications to Client Services to improve workflow efficiency, clarify ownership, and enhance response consistency. Correspondence templates were also modernized, including MLA bullet templates.
The change was delivered in phased stages of awareness, transition, and stabilization, resulting in improved efficiency, clearer accountability, and a reduction in late items, alongside positive staff feedback. This built on experience managing high-volume government correspondence (450–500 monthly items) across ministerial, MLA, executive, and public-facing channels, maintaining ~95% response rates and significantly reducing late MLA and executive responses by 70% through standardized tools and workflows.

Supported communication continuity and operational stability during periods of executive transition, sustained workforce turnover, and a five-week labour disruption within a high-volume government environment. In the absence of formal continuity or onboarding communication frameworks, developed and implemented practical, informal systems to maintain communication flow, stabilize internal messaging, and support staff through ongoing organizational change. Led development of onboarding and knowledge-sharing resources to address gaps created by staff turnover and ensure consistency in correspondence processes across a multi-functional team. Supported continuity of service delivery during operational disruption periods, including executive transition and workplace relocation, by maintaining clear, consistent communication across internal channels and supporting information flow between leadership and staff.

Phase 1: Internal Communications Improvement (Early Tenure): Upon joining RoadSafetyBC, identified that no formal editorial calendar or structured planning framework existed for internal newsletters, resulting in inconsistent timing, content gaps, and limited alignment with staff information needs. Redesigned and restructured the internal newsletter approach by introducing clearer content planning, improved segmentation, and stronger alignment to employee priorities and operational updates. This established a more intentional and predictable communications rhythm and contributed to a ~30% increase in newsletter readership based on available internal reporting, reflecting improved engagement with internal communications content.
Phase 2: Internal Communications Modernization (Current Work in Progress): Currently supporting a broader internal communications overhaul for RoadSafetyBC as part of an organization-wide modernization initiative. This work involves contributing to the redesign of internal communication systems, workflows, and channel strategy, including the evolving role of SharePoint/intranet as part of the future-state internal communications model. As this initiative is in progress, performance metrics and outcomes are not yet finalized and are part of an active redesign and measurement refresh.
